Infamey Voices His Concerns

Rainbow Sun FrancksHey everybody. About two weeks ago while I was watching Much, Rainbow (Rainbow Sun Francks, MuchMusic Vj, pictured) threw to ‘Still 2 Much’.

When the song was over it came back to Rainbow and he started singing Snow’s verse in what I thought was a mimicking sort of tone. Well, I was a little pissed off, so I wrote Rainbow a letter, never thinking he would write back….well, he wrote me back!

The top letter is what I wrote. The next message is what Rainbow wrote in response.

Hope you find it interesting….

*This 1’s for Rainbow*

Rainbow son, What’s up man? Before ya read this, I just want to let ya know that I ain’t banging on you dawg. I just got me some concerns.

On Sunday you were throwin to the Ghetto C video ‘Still Too Much’ and I kinda got the impression that you were dissing Snow. What’s up with that?

When the video was over you mimicked Snow’s verse in the song and you kinda made homeboy look like a fool.

It’s all good if you want to hate man, but you should understand that as a Journalist (and yeah, even though you’re a “VJ” you’re still a Journalist) you have a responsibility to be unbiased.

Ya know, alot of kats hate on Snow. Unfounded comparisons of him to Vanilla Ice are more common than Mustang 5 litres. He’s white so people ain’t tryin to hear his toasting skills. Fact is though, that boy is more rub-a-dub than all three of the men in the tub, but people ain’t tryin to hear that. He’s got skills man that I ain’t heard from alot of black kats. It ain’t about race, it’s about skills.

The hate on Snow bandwagon is gettin old like mold.

Why is it alright for Eminem to spit shit, but as soon as Snow shows his love for Reggae, some people feel they gotta diss it. What’s the difference?

Snow’s worked with Beenie Man, Buju Banton, Terror Fabulous, MC Shan, and now with all the boys in the 7 Bills All Stars. He’s actually done time in prison as opposed to just rappin about it like all these other fake ass “MC’s” frontin like they hard. He drew attention to the Canadian scene when he dropped Informer, which everybody and their grandma was bumpin. And he’s well respected in Jamaica, Trinidad, and the Carribean as a whole. So why does he get dissed in his homeland? Ever see an interview with him? He’s straight real, never frontin a fake accent or nothing, and he’s cool man. Real class act.

Maybe it was some of the career moves he’s made. Okay, I’ll admit it, headlining the Psykoblast tour couldn’t have helped him in the eyes of alot of hip hop heads, but ya know what? He’s got a little girl now, he’s gotta represent. Maybe his albums after ’12 Inches’ and ‘Murder Love’ didn’t do all that well due to shitty marketing, even though his third album ‘Justuss’ gives the listener the feeling that they might be sitting dead centre in a dancehall in Kingston. What’s a boy to do?

Alright look man, all I’m sayin is this….I could be trippin and you might not even have anything against him. And even if you do, it’s cool. But dude, I respect you as a Vj ‘Too Much’ to not write and express my concerns.

I wanna know what you’re angle on this is. Holla at me.

Hey Jeff…

Understand your concerns I do. But, I wasn’t hating on him in any way… I was merely highlighting the fact that he goes nuts on the song which he does.

I have sat down with Snow on some occasions and I personally like the fellow. Even more so, since he’s stopped drinking and learned alot about himself.

I didn’t mean to come accross that way and will keep your comment in mind for future throws. And he is better and more skilled than alot of black artists, even though race and colour have nothing to do with my opinion on anything, I’m above that kinda stuff (or at least try to be).

Say hi to Frek Sho out there if you know them … I’m a big fan.

Jeff, Thank you for the way you wrote your concerns out. Most people hound us with overwhelming opinions that don’t justify a response, yours was kind. Thank you. keep watching and if you’re into hip hop, check out my group called The Oddities at www.oddlyenough.com Thanks Again.

Love is Love,

Rainbow Sun AKA Sny Whip.
